Universal Health Care

During Governor Sebelius' state of the state address, she announced that she wanted to provide health care for all Kansans:

“We must commit ourselves to the goal that all Kansans will have health
insurance, and we must begin now” - Kathleen Sebelius

Republicans immediately pushed back on this - a big shock.

I'm not sure what Kathleen's idea of universal health care is, but I know what Kansas should have. We need to have the government run the health care system and require that all Kansans, rich, poor, young and old receive coverage.

I hope that Governor Sebelius fights for this. The free market and doctors will always exclude the poor. Someone needs to stand up for them.

I hope her solution isn't trying to offer subsidies to HMO's or expanding entitlements just a little bit. The only way to provide true universal health care is to have a system like Canada. It's not perfect over there but it's a start.

True leadership offers a vision and then fights for it. Sebelius has the bully pulpit and she has a landslide victory - now is her time to start leading on this issue.

One of the biggest shames is when Hillary Clinton backed off her quest to provide coverage for all. Let's hope that doesn't happen here.

Please post your thoughts and ideas if you have any.

Great site, but I am confused. Why is this "DINO" watch. Do you know what DINO means? Democrat in Name Only. That means they are very conservative, and are not really Democrats. Like Zell Miller. Or Joe Lieberman.

So your site makes me think you believe Kathleen Sebelius and other good Kansas Democrats are really DINOs?
